L1 20th round prospects preview

By: Evilo | January 10th, 2009

Here’s a preview of the U22 prospects in action tonight and tomorrow.

First, transfers regarding U22 players :
- Obertan on loan to Lorient from Bordeaux.

Second, remember that as of today the 86 born aren’t eligible anymore.

Auxerre – Marseille
Rémy Riou will face a tough task against OM’s offensive power. Keep an eye on Narry, he could be a deciding factor in midfield.
For OM, Ben Arfa could see time.

Lyon – Lorient
Benzema will try to score a few on Lorient’s solid D. Tough game for OL.
Lorient will have Obertan starting for the first time after his loan and Gameiro using his quickness to make the OL D suffer big time.

Le Havre – Toulouse
For Toulouse, Capoue should boss the midfield.

Monaco – Nantes
Nkoulou and Nimani should be starters. Mollo could see time.

Sochaux – St Etienne
Martin could start in midfield and Erding will try to complement Sverkos for the first time.
Les Verts will have Benalouane and Andreu in defense, Matuidi in midfield and Mirallas up front. It should be noted that 18 year old striker Emmanuel Rivière played right back against Bordeaux in Coupe de France action last week and played really well.

Le Mans – Lille
Bouhours, Louvion, Gervinho, and Dossevi are all good bets to start against Lille. Lots of uncertainty though.
Hazard will create danger from midfield if he starts.

Nancy – Nice
Dia will try to keep up his good form. N’Diaye might see time in defense.
Ospina will probably continue his impressive form, while Modeste or Rémy should start up front.

Rennes – Grenoble
Lemoine is a fixture in Rennes’ midfield.
Feghouli could see time and rebound from his bad form.

Bordeaux – PSG
No U22 should start.

Predictions for Top 3 :
1- Mirallas : St Etienne are better, and I could see them winning in Sochaux.
2- Ospina : good goalie, could be a good game for Nice too.
3- Capoue : he should dominate the midfield against Le Havre.

Predictions for Flop 3 :
1- Feghouli : not the perfect game to rebound.
2- Bouhours : should suffer against Lille.
3- Matuidi : Nancy’s midfield is hard to deal with.

Obertan started? How did he do? Setanta didn’t air the game…

Ben Arfa got 10′, I didn’t see much from him but he did get a shot at goal though (it was off target).

Yes Obertan started and he had a very average first half. He simply didn’t try anything and passed the ball immediately.
In the second half though he did try to dribble past Mensah and got the upper hand a few times. It didn’t result in a goal, but it was nice to see.
He also had the most dangerous chance of the second half with a nice shot, but Lloris made a tremendous save.
All in all a successful start.
