August 2010 Top 50 prospects : 1-10By: Evilo | August 11th, 2010
Here are the players ranked from 1st to 10th on my new top 50 list.
1- Eden Hazard (1), Lille, AM, 91, Belgium
Rating : 9.5 B-, Messi
Talent : Hazard is one of the world’s prime young talents. He has a great touch, great vision, great speed and great dribbling. His technique is up there with the best of them. His impact in Lille was huge and he was elected best L1 prospect for the second year in a row. He was also nominated for League MVP (never before was a player nominated for both categories), and he probably deserved it. He is in my opinion the best player of the league at age 19.
2- Mamadou Sakho (2), PSG, CB/LB, 90
Rating : 9 C+, Gallas
Talent : Sakho is a combination of a good footballer, physical freak and born leader. He has a good accurate left foot, has good long passes and is a good tackler. He is maturing extremely fast and is the closest thing to a dominant defenseman L1 has. He has now been called by Blanc for the national team. He needs to work on his consistency and focus.
3- Yan Mvila (U), Rennes, DM, 90
Rating : 8.5 A-, Mascherano
Talent : M’Vila is already on the national team and should be there for the next 10 years. Extremely poised, calm, he is never afraid of any situation. Extremely good technically, he’s also a rock defensively, with a lot of activity.
4- Moussa Sissoko (18), Toulouse, DM, 89
Rating : 9 B-, Essien
Talent : Sissoko is a rock defensively. Great tackling ability, lots of energy and a lot of running too. He isn’t bad in front of the net either. He has high upside because he’s everywhere on the pitch. Now he’s part of the senior national team.
5- Miralem Pjanic (4), Lyon, AM/CM, 90, Bosnia
Rating : 9 C+, J. Cole
Talent : An incredible touch on the ball, Pjanic is loaded with technical talent. Everything seems smooth and easy. He still lacks the goal scoring instinct, and should be more decisive around the net. But his transition game is amazing. His goal against Real Madrid should help him take the next step.
6- Etienne Capoue (21), Toulouse, DM, 88
Rating : 8 A-, M. Diarra
Talent : Capoue is a good candidate for a future DM spot on the national team. Very strong, physically imposing, he is a workhorse. One of the most important and consistant player for Toulouse.
7- Maxime Gonalons (U), Lyon, DM/CB, 89
Rating : 8 A-, Toulalan
Talent : Gonalons is a versatile defensive midfielder who surprised many last year but seeing so much time among the crowded Lyon midfield. He scored a key goal in Liverpool and showed poise, calm and a lot of awareness in CL situations.
8- Emmanuel Rivière (41), St Etienne, ST/RB, 90
Rating : 8.5C-, Gomis
Talent : Rivière is an athlete and has good awareness. He is fast and physical. He has scored some key goals and has now established himself as a starter for St Etienne.
9- Yaya Sanogo (U), Auxerre, Striker, 93
Rating : 9 C-, Trézéguet
Talent : Sanogo is a real pocher. Even though he’s only 17, he’s seen some time on 3rd ranked Auxerre. He has signed a pro contract a year ago because many teams wanted to sign him. A very exciting scorer prospect.
10- Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (U), Montpellier, CB/LB/RB, 89
Rating : 8 B+, Gallas
Talent : Yanga-Mbiwa is a strong center back who can play multiple positions on defense. He is really strong on his legs, has good acceleration and keeps it simple. U21 player already and if he continues to progress, he should be on the National Team soon.
