21st round prospects performances… Top 3/ Flop 3
By: Evilo | January 21st, 2009
Here’s a round up of the U22 performances in this weekend of Ligue 1 action.
Sorry about the delay…
Grenoble 0-2 Lyon
Paillot (6) did very well and he’s shown his own team that he could have helped them a lot rather than being loaned elsewhere. Feghouli (7) was impressive and clearly wanted to shine in front of the champs.
For Lyon, Gassama (5) was in trouble a few times but showed good composure in others. Benzema (5) didn’t have a good game but was still key in his team’s opening goal.
Marseille 2-0 Le Havre
Boli (5) was OK, but really should have done more with the space he had.
St Etienne 1-1 Le Mans
Benalouane (5) was his usual good self.
Gervinho (3) was baaaaad until he helped creating the tying goal.
Toulouse 3-0 Nancy
For TFC, Sissoko (5) made some bad choices, but his physical impact is still obvious. Capoue (7) would have been Man of the Match worthy if not for Gignac. Extremely strong in the middle, gains multiple balls and wins most of his challenges. His passing was accurate and quick.
For Nancy, Dia (6) was OK, but IMO lacked the finished product, as most of the time.
Lorient 1-1 Valenciennes
Obertan (6) was his team’s best player offensively I thought. Gameiro (4) was surprisingly uninspired on the other hand.
Nice 2-0 Auxerre
Rémy (6) scored a nice goal and had a good game. Ospina (6) was rock solid in goal.
Nantes 1-2 Bordeaux
No U22 in that game.
PSG 2-1 Sochaux
Sakho (6) was really poised back there and was impressive.
For Sochaux, Marvin Martin (6) came in at half time and was extremely impressive. He really turned his team around and could have been rewarded with an assist or goal. Erding (5) showed some nice moves and dribbles, but couldn’t get a decent scoring opportunity.
Caen 2-2 Monaco
Pino (7) scored quickly and was once again impressive all around. Mongongu (5) had trouble on his side. Thuram-Elien (6) was very good all game long, but is not perfect on Caen’s tying goal.
Lille 1-0 Rennes
Lemoine (4) was pretty much invisible. That happens a lot against Lille’s fantastic midfield.
Top 3 :
1- Pino : once again nice offensive performance.
2- E. Capoue : a force in the middle.
3- Marvin Martin : a very nice performance against PSG.
Flop 3
1- Gervinho : he should do better than this.
2- Benzema : same here. He might be too isolated, but he should have done better with what he had.
3- Gameiro : he’s rarely in the flop 3, but VA is not exactly the toughest D to break.
