Here’s the list from #10 to #1

1- Eden Hazard (1), Lille, AM, 91, Belgium
Rating : 9.5 B-, Messi
Talent : Hazard is simply Ligue 1’s best player (elected by his peers). He has great touch, great vision, great speed and great dribbling. His technique is up there with the best of them. His impact in Lille was huge and a big reason why Lille won the double.

2- Mamadou Sakho (2), PSG, CB/LB, 90
Rating : 9 B, Desailly
Talent : A HUGE season from Sakho. He is a combination of a good footballer, physical freak and born leader. He has a good accurate left foot, has good long passes and is a great tackler. He is maturing extremely fast and is the most dominant defenseman L1 has t offer. He has now been called by Blanc for the national team. Sometimes, he lacks consistency and focus but that was the case for 4 to 5 games this season.

3- Yann Mvila (3), Rennes, DM, 90
Rating : 9 A-, Busquets
Talent : M’Vila is already on the national team and a key member of that squad. Extremely poised, calm, he is never afraid of any situation. Extremely good technically, he’s also a rock defensively, with a lot of activity. His passes (forward especially) is a huge asset to any team.

4- Javier Pastore (U), PSG, AM/CM, 89
Rating : 9B, Kaka
Talent : Everyone knows about the L1 most expensive player ever. He’s like Kaka without the top speed. Great dribbler, cannon shot, great passes. We’ll see how he fares in L1 this year.

5- André Ayew (23), OM, LW/Striker, 89, Ghana
Rating : 8.5 B-, Eto’o
Talent : Ayew is a very fast dribbling machine that has a lot of maturity and works well defensively. He’s now OM’s best player as his offense has developed greatly over the course of the season. He scores a lot of goals and is always the hardest working player on the pitch.

6- Moussa Sissoko (4), Toulouse, DM, 89
Rating : 9 C+, Essien
Talent : Sissoko is a rock defensively. Great tackling ability, lots of energy and a lot of running too. He isn’t bad in front of the net either, and he can use his huge shot. He has high upside because he’s everywhere on the pitch. Now he’s part of the senior national team.

7- Franck Tabanou (31), Toulouse, LW, 89
Rating : 8.5 C, Malouda
Talent : Tabanou really stepped up this year. He made some great plays, tried some really hard moves but that worked.

8- Dejan Lovren (32), Lyon, CB, 89
Rating : 8 B, Vidic
Talent : Lovren is a solid physical defenseman who can play any defensive position, including DM. He has an interesting package of tools and is not bad with long passes too.

9- Yacine Brahimi (U), Rennes, LW/AM, 90
Rating : 8.5 C, Iniesta
Talent : Brahimi is a technically gifted attacking midfielder, who can make great plays as he’s very creative.

10- Miralem Pjanic (5), Lyon, AM/CM, 90, Bosnia
Rating : 9 C+, J. Cole
Talent : An incredible touch on the ball, Pjanic is loaded with technical talent. Everything seems smooth and easy. He still lacks the goal scoring instinct, and should be more decisive around the net. But his transition game is amazing. The bad news is that he had a frankly bad season this year. This year will be extremely important for his development.

Here’s the list from #20 to #11

11- Maxime Gonalons (7), Lyon, DM/CB, 89
Rating : 8 A-, Toulalan
Talent : Gonalons is a versatile defensive midfielder who surprised many last year but seeing so much time among the crowded Lyon midfield. He is poised and a good leader.

12- Mbaye Niang (U), Caen, Striker, 94
Rating : 9 D, Adebayor
Talent : Well, what a story. At age 16, Niang has established himself as one of the prime young players in L1. He has been called to the U21 team (at age 16 !), which has never happened to any 16 year old in French history. He’s a warrior on the field, works hard, is fast enough, tall and good around the net. His left foot needs work IMO, but his positioning and instincts make him a wonderful prospect.

13- Jordan Ayew (47), Marseille, LW/RW/Striker, 91
Rating : 8C-, A. Ayew
Talent : Jordan is really talented, he has speed and dribbling skills. His explosiveness is his main asset and he proved this year, establishing himself as a key player in OM’s run..

14- Ryad Boudebouz (14), Sochaux, AM, 90, Algeria
Rating : 8 C+, Pirès
Talent : Boudebouz is a talented attacking midfielder who can use both of his feet very well and creates danger most games. He has provided Sochaux with a fantastic tandem with Marvin Martin.

15- Serge Aurier (49), Lens, RB, 92
Rating : 8 C-, Sagna
Talent : Aurier proved how talented he was by being arguably the best player on his team (with Varane). He was elected best prospect of the Lens academy, which has quite a few good prospects. He’s strong, very active and is a good crosser.

16- Emmanuel Rivière (8), Toulouse, Striker, 90
Rating : 8.5C-, Gomis
Talent : Rivière is an athlete and has good awareness. He is fast and physical. He has scored some key goals and his enthousiasm is a great asset..

17- Yaya Sanogo (9), Auxerre, Striker, 93
Rating : 9 C-, Trézéguet
Talent : Sanogo is a real pocher. His size (1.91m) is a great asset. His season was nullified by injuries, but this year, he should be able to show his skills.

18- Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (10), Montpellier, CB/LB/RB, 89
Rating : 8 B+, Gallas
Talent : Yanga-Mbiwa is a strong center back who can play multiple positions on defense. He is really strong on his legs, has good acceleration and keeps it simple. U21 player already and if he continues to progress, he should be on the National Team soon.

19- Younes Belhanda (13), Montpellier, RW/AM, 90, Marocco
Rating : 8.5 B-, Pires
Talent : Belhanda is a very talented offensive midfielder. He has excellent dribbling skills and vision. He needs to work on his consistency and physical role.

20- Jean-Christophe Bahebeck (U), PSG, LW, 93
Rating : 8.5 C+, Rémy
Talent : Bahebeck is a really exciting prospect, extremely fast (though he runs “weirdly”), with good technique and a good shot. Will he have enough playing time with PSG? So far, he’s pencilled as Nene’s backup.

Here’s the list from #30 to #21

21- Willy Boly (U), Auxerre, CB, 91
Rating : 8.5 C-, Kaboul
Talent : Boly is a strong, quick, physical defenseman who is strong in the air and is a born leader.

22- César Azpilicueta (U), OM, RB, 89, Spain
Rating : 7.5 B+, Sagnol
Talent : Quick and technical, Azpilicueta had a tough tough start to his OM career. Just as he was starting to feel better, he injured himself for 6 months. This season, he should be finally delivering.

23- Clément Grenier (U), Lyon, CM, 91
Rating : 8.5 C, Gourcuff
Talent : Grenier was underwhelming in the U19 Euro-championships last summer, but he was convincing this year when he had playing time (except a rookie mistake in a game against Nice). He clears the play for his team. Of course, his excellent technical ability helps his team in any situation. I like the fact he is now willing to dribble through defenses on a regular basis.

24- Alexandre Lacazette (43), Lyon, RW/LW/Striker, 91
Rating : 8 C, Rémy
Talent : Lacazette is a fun player to watch. He loves to bring enthousiasm, great plays and exposive speed. He can play anywhere up front and is being liked a lot by the Lyon staff. He has made an impact every time he’s stepped up on the pitch, and is France’s best player in the ongoing U20 World Cup.

25- Yohan Mollo (20), Monaco, AM, 89
Rating : 8.5 C-, C. Ronaldo
Talent : Mollo is a talented attacking midfielder, very good technically, but who doesn’t like to pass the ball, tries to do too much and can be frustrating at times. He needs to simplify his game to evolve towards more efficiency. This year with Caen, he showed both of his sides : the technical impact he had on his team, but also the lack of end product and his stupid quotes (asked why he doesn’t have more goals or assists, he answers “not my fault my partners can’t score on my golden passes”, or “they should stop trying to pass the ball to the other side of the attack and favour me” or when he scored a beautiful goal at Monaco, the team that owns him : “I want some people here in Monaco to know that I fuck them”). Basically, his smarts are … underwhelming to say the least.

26- Henri Saivet (25), Bordeaux, LW/RW, 90
Rating : 8.5C-, Robben
Talent : Saivet is an extremely fast winger with impressive dribbling skills. He has a good knack for scoring too and is the leader of the golden 90 generation. His main problem is that he can’t stay healthy. This year might be the year where he see playing time with Bordeaux.

27- Sébastien Corchia (26), Sochaux, RB, 90
Rating : 7.5 B+, Sagnol
Talent : Corchia is a solid RB with very good offensive instincts. He lacks physical impact but seems like a very smart defenseman. He is a good free kick and corner taker and should very soon (maybe this season) rank among the best RB in L1.

28- Nam Tae Hee (U), Valenciennes, AM, 91, South Korea
Rating : 8 B-, Ozil
Talent : A very impressive young player, Nam is technically gifted and his forte is his tremendous passing ability and creative vision.

29- Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik (U), Rennes, CB, 89
Rating : 7 B+,
Talent : Kana-Biyik is a solid defenseman that impressed in his first full season in L1. He’s physically imposing, strong in the air and extremely aware defensively.

30- Abdelhamid El-Kaoutari (38), Montpellier, CB, 90
Rating : 7.5 B-, Yahia
Talent : Solid defenseman who can play in different positions. He has to work on his focus and communication, but he should be a L1 defenseman for years.

Here’s the list from #40 to #31

31- Karim Ait-Fana (11), Montpellier, LW/RW, 89, Marocco
Rating : 8.5 C-, J. Cole
Talent : Ait-Fana is a heavily talented winger, who can dribble past anyone and create danger out of nothing. He has a fantastic touch on the ball. He is a bit light physically, but that should come. His season was a huge disappointment however.

32- Nicolas Nkoulou (34), OM, CB/DM, 90, Cameroon
Rating : 8.5D, Blanc
Talent : Nkoulou is a very smart and talented defenseman who needs to grow in his body and become more physical. He has trouble against physical forwards but he has a lot of tools to become a world class defenseman. He was disappointing last year, but the potential is there.

33- Vujadin Savic (U), Bordeaux, CB, 90, Serbia
Rating : 8 C, Vidic
Talent : Savic is strong, tall and imposing. However, his focus is not there yet and he has some work to do to correct that.

34- Pierrick Cros (U), Sochaux, GK, 91
Rating : 8 B, Coupet
Talent : Cros showed some great promise when he had some playing time with Sochaux this year. He has great reflexes and didn’t make glaring mistake.

35- Rémy Cabella (U), Montpellier, AM, 90
Rating : 7.5 B, Belhanda
Talent : Cabella showed great technique when he was loaned to Arles last year. This year will tell us more about his potential.

36- Loris Néry (U), Saint Etienne, RB, 91
Rating : 7.5 B+, Sagnol
Talent : Néry is a quick RB with good crossing ability. We’ll see how he fares in his second season, but I like his potential.

37- Neeskens Kebano (U), PSG, RW/LW, 92
Rating : 8.5 C-, Ribéry
Talent : Kebano features the best first name in football obviously, but he’s not just a name. He’s a tremendous dribbler who can break a defense in small spaces.

38- Kévin Théophile-Catherine (U), Rennes, LB/CB/RB, 89
Rating : 7.5 B, Abidal
Talent : TC is a solid defenseman who is right footed but played as LB. He does the job pretty well, especially defensively.

39- Yannis Tafer (21), Lyon, Striker, 91
Rating : 8.5 C-, Trézéguet
Talent : Tafer is a deadly scorer, a real poacher. He isn’t over physical nor fast, but extremely good in front of the net. He was part of the U19 european championship team. He started injured but played in the third game (scored a goal), played very poorly in the semifinal, and made some key plays coming off the bench in the final. However, he was loaned to Toulouse, but failed to make any impact. His stock has definitely gone down because of that.

40- Cédric Bakambu (U), Sochaux, Striker, 91
Rating : 8 C, Gomis
Talent : Bakambu is a very strong striker, quick, but who needs to develop his scoring ability. He can also play wing sometimes, but he’s a better fit for striker.

41- Jérémy Pied (U), Lyon, LW/RW, 89
Rating : 7.5 B-,
Talent : Pied is a good winger who can cross the ball well and who has a good shot. He is inconsistent however and I don’t think his potential is very high. A nice bench player however.

42- Chris Mavinga (U), Rennes, CB/LB, 91
Rating : 8 C-, Sakho
Talent : Mavinga is a solid Dman who has a good passing game too. We’ll see more of his potential this year with Rennes hopefully.

43- Ishak Belfodil (42), Lyon, Striker, 92
Rating : 8.5 C, Benzema
Talent : Belfodil is a complete forward, fast, strong and skilled. He has already seen some CL and L1 minutes, which is impressive on a deep team like Lyon at age 18.

44- Arnaud Souquet (44), Lille, LM/CM, 92
Rating : 8 C, Kallstrom
Talent : For his first pro game in Europa League action, Souquet delivered an assist and then scored a goal of his own. Not bad. Souquet is a complete midfielder, who can play any midfield position. Excellent technique and skills.

45- Thimothée Kolodziejcak (U), Lyon, LB, 91
Rating : 7 B, Sagna
Talent : Kolo is usually solid defensively, but can’t send a decent cross. He’s an adequate substitute, but I’m not sure he can start right now.

46- Nampalys Mendy (U), Monaco, DM, 92
Rating : 7B+, L. Diarra
Talent : Mendy is a great tackler who wins many balls in every game. His offensive impact is however limited.

47- Cédric Mongongu (18), Monaco, RB/CB, 89, Congo
Rating : 8B-, Thuram
Talent : Mongongu is a physical and strong player who is not horrible going forward. He isn’t natural up front but is adequate. His main quality however is his defensive ability. He didn’t have the best season with Monaco last year though.

48- Alexandre Coeff (U), Lens, CM, 92
Rating : 8 C-, Bodmer
Talent : Coeff is a tall technical midfielder with a good shot and great passing ability. He should get more playing time this year.

49- Darnel Situ (U), Lens, CB, 92
Rating : 8 C-, Rami
Talent : Situ is a strong CB with decent skills. More than anything, he’s a natural leader.

50- Kévin Malcuit (U), Monaco, RW/Striker, 91
Rating : 8 C-, Mollo
Talent : Malcuit has great speed and good technique, but he still lacks finishing qualities so far.

The cut off date is 1/1/89.

You’ll find reference to my august 2010 list. You can ask me to publish it for comparison purpose, but you’ll find the progression [former rank between ()].
In order to describe each player’s potential and chance of reaching it, I put up a number and a letter :
- From 1 to 10 ranks the estimated potential of the player (10 being a Maradona or Pele)
- From A to F the chance of reaching it (A being there already and F being pretty much no chance)
- Next to the rating, you’ll find the player’s ranking a year ago and the name of a pro or former pro, whose style is the closest to the style of the prospect. Take note that it doesn’t mean they’ll become similar to this player. We’re only comparing STYLES here.
You’ll only find on this list players that have at least played one L1 game (or in a league at least as good) as of today.

Main graduates (88 born) since last year :
E. Capoue, Ndinga, Kaboré, Martin, Sako, Ospina, etc….

Main transfered players since last year :
N’Diaye, Haruna, etc…

1- Eden Hazard (1), Lille, AM, 91, Belgium
Rating : 9.5 B-, Messi
Talent : Hazard is one of the world’s prime young talents. He has a great touch, great vision, great speed and great dribbling. His technique is up there with the best of them. His impact in Lille was huge and he was elected best L1 prospect for the second year in a row. He was also nominated for League MVP (never before was a player nominated for both categories), and he probably deserved it. He is in my opinion the best player of the league at age 19.

2- Mamadou Sakho (2), PSG, CB/LB, 90
Rating : 9 C+, Gallas
Talent : Sakho is a combination of a good footballer, physical freak and born leader. He has a good accurate left foot, has good long passes and is a good tackler. He is maturing extremely fast and is the closest thing to a dominant defenseman L1 has. He has now been called by Blanc for the national team. He needs to work on his consistency and focus.

3- Yan Mvila (U), Rennes, DM, 90
Rating : 8.5 A-, Mascherano
Talent : M’Vila is already on the national team and should be there for the next 10 years. Extremely poised, calm, he is never afraid of any situation. Extremely good technically, he’s also a rock defensively, with a lot of activity.

4- Moussa Sissoko (18), Toulouse, DM, 89
Rating : 9 B-, Essien
Talent : Sissoko is a rock defensively. Great tackling ability, lots of energy and a lot of running too. He isn’t bad in front of the net either. He has high upside because he’s everywhere on the pitch. Now he’s part of the senior national team.

5- Miralem Pjanic (4), Lyon, AM/CM, 90, Bosnia
Rating : 9 C+, J. Cole
Talent : An incredible touch on the ball, Pjanic is loaded with technical talent. Everything seems smooth and easy. He still lacks the goal scoring instinct, and should be more decisive around the net. But his transition game is amazing. His goal against Real Madrid should help him take the next step.

6- Etienne Capoue (21), Toulouse, DM, 88
Rating : 8 A-, M. Diarra
Talent : Capoue is a good candidate for a future DM spot on the national team. Very strong, physically imposing, he is a workhorse. One of the most important and consistant player for Toulouse.

7- Maxime Gonalons (U), Lyon, DM/CB, 89
Rating : 8 A-, Toulalan
Talent : Gonalons is a versatile defensive midfielder who surprised many last year but seeing so much time among the crowded Lyon midfield. He scored a key goal in Liverpool and showed poise, calm and a lot of awareness in CL situations.

8- Emmanuel Rivière (41), St Etienne, ST/RB, 90
Rating : 8.5C-, Gomis
Talent : Rivière is an athlete and has good awareness. He is fast and physical. He has scored some key goals and has now established himself as a starter for St Etienne.

9- Yaya Sanogo (U), Auxerre, Striker, 93
Rating : 9 C-, Trézéguet
Talent : Sanogo is a real pocher. Even though he’s only 17, he’s seen some time on 3rd ranked Auxerre. He has signed a pro contract a year ago because many teams wanted to sign him. A very exciting scorer prospect.

10- Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa (U), Montpellier, CB/LB/RB, 89
Rating : 8 B+, Gallas
Talent : Yanga-Mbiwa is a strong center back who can play multiple positions on defense. He is really strong on his legs, has good acceleration and keeps it simple. U21 player already and if he continues to progress, he should be on the National Team soon.

11- Karim Ait-Fana (U), Montpellier, LW/RW, 89
Rating : 8.5 B+, J. Cole
Talent : Ait-Fana is a heavily talented winger, who can dribble past anyone and create danger out of nothing. He has a fantastic touch on the ball. He is a bit light physically, but that should come.

12- Delvin Ndinga (U), Auxerre, DM, 88, Congo
Rating : 8 B, Sissoko
Talent : Ndinga is a force in midfield, creating havoc among offensive players of the opposition and being dangerous in placed attacks.

13- Younes Belhanda (U), Montpellier, RW/AM, 90
Rating : 8.5 B-, Pires
Talent : Belhanda is a very talented offensive midfielder. He has excellent dribbling skills and vision. He needs to work on his consistency and physical role.

14- Ryad Boudebouz (20), Sochaux, AM, 90, Algeria
Rating : 8 C+, Pirès
Talent : Boudebouz is a talented attacking midfielder who can use both of his feet very well and creates danger most games. He performed very well for Algeria in the World Cup.

15- Charles Kaboré (37), OM, CM/DM/RB, 88, Burkina Faso
Rating : 8.5C-, Vieira
Talent :Kaboré is a very solid player, physically very strong and with good technical ability. His tackling is his main asset. He really reminds me of Vieira. He has developped into a starter for Marseille.

16- Alfred N’Diaye (38), Nancy, CB/DM, 90
Rating : 8B-, Desailly
Talent : N’Diaye is a physical phenom, very strong and quick. He has trouble adapting to his new position DM, probably because he’s a natural CB. I still like him more there at CB, but it’s a hard position as a young player. His technique is better than one would think too.

17- Marvin Martin (40), Sochaux, CM, 88
Rating : 8C, Xavi
Talent : Martin is a small CM who controls the play and dictates the rhythm. He has a very interesting package of technical skills as well as defensive awareness. He is now seen as a key player by Sochaux.

18- Cédric Mongongu (42), Monaco, RB/CB, 89, Congo
Rating : 8B-, Thuram
Talent : Mongongu is a physical and strong player who is not horrible going forward. He isn’t natural up front but is adequate. His main quality however is his defensive abilities.

19- Bakary Sako (U), St Etienne, RW/AM, 88
Rating : 8 B, N’Zogbia
Talent : Sako is a talented winger who can play all along the right side. His crosses are top notch and he can be dangerous on set plays too (as a kicker).

20- Yohan Mollo (23), Monaco, AM, 89
Rating : 8.5 C-, C. Ronaldo
Talent : Mollo is a talented attacking midfielder, very good technically, but who doesn’t like to pass the ball, tries to do too much and can be frustrating at times. He needs to simplify his game to evolve towards more efficiency.

21- Yannis Tafer (19), Lyon, Striker, 91
Rating : 8.5 C, Trézéguet
Talent : Tafer is a deadly scorer, a real poacher. He isn’t over physical nor fast, but extremely good in front of the net. He was part of the U19 european championship team. He started injured but played in the third game (scored a goal), played very poorly in the semifinal, and made some key plays coming off the bench in the final.

22- David Ospina (15), Nice, GK, 88, Columbia
Rating : 8.5C, Casillas
Talent : Ospina is a strong goalie with great reflexes. He needs to work on his aerial outings. He had his worst season yet last year, and we’ll see if he rebounds this season.

23- André Ayew (50), OM, RW, 89, Ghana
Rating : 8D, S. Kalou
Talent : Ayew is a very fast dribbling machine that has a lot of maturity and works well defensively. Still very raw offensively. Hiw great World Cup has made his status evolve and he is now seen as a potential starter for OM.

24- Kévin Monnet-Paquet (12), Lens, LW/ST, 88
Rating : 8.5C+, Henry/Ribéry
Talent : KMP is a guy I have a soft spot for. Not only is he a good dribbler, but he has that great shot reminiscent of JP Papin. I like him better when he plays up front, but it doesn’t seem Lens want him to play there.

25- Henri Saivet (11), Bordeaux, LW/RW, 90
Rating : 9C+, Robben
Talent : Saivet is an extremely fast winger with impressive dribbling skills. He has a good knack for scoring too and is the leader of the golden 90 generation. His main problem is that he can’t stay healthy.

26- Sébastien Corchia (47), Le Mans, RB, 90
Rating : 7.5 B+, Réveillère
Talent : Corchia is a solid RB with very good offensive instincts. He lacks physical impact but seems like a very smart defenseman. He is a good free kick and corner taker and is now looking to transfer to a bigger team to avoid L2.

27- Damien Marcq (U), Caen, RB/CM/AM, 88
Rating : 7.5 B, Seube
Talent : Marcq is an extremely versatile player who makes good choices. He’s not overly physical, fast or strong. He just does a lot of little things well. Character player too.

28- Grégory Sertic (24), Bordeaux, AM, 89
Rating : 8C+, Pirès
Talent : Sertic is a nice solid player with good technical skills and a good shot. He needs to get more playing time to develop his choice selection.

29- Lukman Haruna (25), Monaco, DM, 90, Nigeria
Rating : 9D, Essien
Talent : Haruna is a bull in midfield. He is incredibly talented, going from box to box. He however needs to watch his temper. He got some minutes during the World Cup and certainly didn’t look out of place.

30- Garry Bocaly (26), Montpellier, RB, 88
Rating : 8.5 B-, Abidal
Talent : Bocaly is a strong defenseman with very good offensive instincts. He’s a defense-first kind of right back. He established himself in Montpellier, where he is more trusted than in Marseille.

31- Franck Tabanou (U), Toulouse, LW, 89
Rating : 8 C-, Valbuena
Talent : Tabanou is a skilled winger, who likes to dribble down the left wing. He has a nice shot too. He obviously needs to work on his consistency and finishing.

32- Dejan Lovren (U), Lyon, CB, 89
Rating : 7.5 B, Vidic
Talent : Lovren is a solid physical defenseman who can play any defensive position, including DM. He has an interesting package of tools and is not bad with long passes too.

33- Jirès Kembo-Ekoko (30), Rennes, LW, 88
Rating : 7.5B-, Diomède
Talent : Kembo is a pinball who loves dribbling. He really only plays well when he’s trying to beat defensemen one on one. He didn’t get enough playing time last season, but he is still thought of highly among Rennes officials.

34- Nicolas Nkoulou (31), Monaco, CB/DM, 90, Cameroon
Rating : 8.5D, Blanc
Talent : Nkoulou is a very smart and talented defenseman who needs to grow in his body and become more physical. He has trouble against physical forwards but he has a lot of tools to become a world class defenseman. He was disappointing last year, but the potential is there.

35- Cheikh M’Bengué (32), Toulouse, LB, 88
Rating : 7.5 B, Sagna
Talent : He is a solid LB who plays a simple yet efficient game. He’s not always at ease going forward but he is making strides.

36- Steeven Langil (U), Auxerre, AM, 88
Rating : 8 C, Gouffran
Talent : Langil is a nice winger, who was loaned to Caen last year in L2. He was extremely successful with the L2 champion and Auxerre refused to sell him. They got him back and he should see more L1 time this year.

37- Anthony Modeste (U), Nice, Striker, 88
Rating : 8 C, Erding
Talent : Modeste’s loan in L2 this year was a total success. He gained confidence, scored a lot and used his assets well (speed, ball protection). Some bigger teams want to sign him, but so far Nice has said no.

38- Abdelhamid El-Kaoutari (U), Montpellier, CB, 90
Rating : 7.5 B-, Yahia
Talent : Solid defenseman who can play in different positions. He has to work on his focus and communication, but he should be a L1 defenseman for years.

39- Mathieu Dreyer (U), Sochaux, GK, 89
Rating : 8 C-, Cech
Talent : Dreyer is a tall goalie with a lot of poise. He’s solid in the air and has good reflexes.

40- Frédéric Nimani (39), Monaco, Striker, 88
Rating : 8 D, Kanouté
Talent : Nimani is a tall striker with good technical skills and a big body. He lacks physical force, he could weigh on defenses more. His biggest drawback is his lack of speed and inconsistency.
